"Walk Away from Back to School Blues"
And we are not talking about those new Blue Jeans!

How on earth are you ever going to manage? You, just like your parents, can reap priceless benefits from regular exercise and gearing your workouts that promote a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity and exercise, especially noncompetitive activity, will help you manage stress, like all the new back to school responsibilities. You will feel calmer and more alert, which can help you work through the things that are causing the stress. Exercise also boosts your immune system, so fight sicknesses much easier. Less sickness means missing less school!

Walking; the perfect exercise! Walking is easy, convenient, and inexpensive--all you need is a good pair of shoes. Nearly anybody can do it at any skill level. You can do it almost anywhere, anytime. Plus, it has the lowest dropout rate and injury rate of all exercise programs.

How much? You should start slowly and gradually increase your distance and speed, especially if you haven't been active. Try walking two to three times a week. Set short distance goals and then try to improve them each week. Try to increase the number of days you walk a week, or walk a bit faster each week. This isn't about "no pain, no gain" it's about choosing fun physical fitness activities that also make you sweat and breathe a little harder.
