The never-ending list of fitness genres can become quite confusing. Which one is best for me? How will I ever be able to do that?! What workout does what for me?
Well, quit questioning all that for a while because summer is a great time to take advantage of outdoor activities.
So how can you incorporate fun and fitness in the summer?
Well, first of all, think of activities that you enjoy doing. Do you like to take a walk, play catch with your friends, or even ride your bike? These are all great activities that will definitely make your fitness fun!
Here's a small list, but be creative and think of your own too!
- Ride a Bike-Be careful where you ride. If you live on busy road, find a park that has a bike trail. Trails can be tough, which can make it a great workout! Bike rides are also very energizing! Bring a friend along to motivate each other!
- Play sports with friends/family-Great out door activity on any day or great recreational activity at summer picnics/BBQ. Shoot some hoops, play touch football, get a game of volleyball or softball going!
- Hiking- Can very vigorous and relaxing at the same time. This is a great time to take a walk and take in some beautiful scenery. Pack along a picnic for some bonus relaxation time!
- Kayaking/Canoeing- What a great way to be active and have fun at the same time! It is very physically challenging and stimulating to row down a river or lake. Row for a while, then take a break sit back and enjoy the scenery.
- Rock Climbing- Be sure you are with a professional when engaging in rock climbing-you MUST know the proper way of climbing and have the appropriate gear to climb. But once you have the 'hang' of it, you wont believe how physically exerting it can be!
- Water actitivies- Swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, etc... The list could go on! But what a 'cool' way to beat the summer heat and get your fitness in at the same time! Take advantage of the summer weather with these great water activities!
Summer is a great time of the year to get in shape, enjoy the outdoors and keep a positive attitude about staying in shape all year round
