Teen Tips

Here are tips that are quick, easy and super-powerful!
It's easy to look and feel your best!

Sleep Sleep Sleep

Teens need nine hours of sleep a night! Try going to sleep 45 minutes earlier than usual. Wind down by turning off the TV and computer. You'll be more focused at school, get better grades and feel happier!

Quick Ways To Get More
"Walk" In Your Life

Adding extra steps in your day can be easy and super beneficial. For instance, when you go to the mall, park farther away from the entrance, skip the elevator and use the stairway, or even take your dog for a walk!

Chill Out

I know, easier said than done. But you honestly need to take a time out and de-stress. We all know stress is bad... but how bad? It can cause breakouts, sleep loss, headaches, eating issues, etc... But meditating, even for a few minutes a couple times a day can reduce your anxiety, mellow you out in school and even ease your PMS symptoms. Close your eyes, sit quietly and breathe deeply.

Drink that H20

Snacking even when you're not hungry? You could actually be dehydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day. You'll think better in class too. Even a mild case of dehydration affects your memory! You should also replace caloric soft drinks with water.

Load Up On Your Fuel In The AM

The importance of breakfast is so crucial! More than you even realize. Did you know that you will actually do better in school and have a better attendance if you eat breakfast? That's right! You'll already be a step ahead everyone else before you even get to school. Ask your parents to have some fast and healthy breakfast options ready for you. Your favorite cereal, fruit, eggs, etc.. Not only will you perform better in school and activities, but teens that eat a balanced breakfast everyday tend to be less overweight than teens that do not.

Skip the Junk, Eat the Healthy

We all know that junk food can be very tempting, but try skipping all the junk food. You can start out slow. Replace one junk food for a healthy snack. There are tons of healthy snacks that taste great and will make you feel great! Fruits - Berries, apples, oranges, apricots, melons, bananas, and the list goes on! Taste test several kinds of fruits to see what you like the best! Low fat yogurt - Dress up plain yogurt with your favorite fruit! Popcorn - Skip the greasy chips and pop some non fat popcorn! Raw veggies - Need a little crunch? Cut up carrots, broccoli and green and red peppers!
